Machine-ridden textures and a devoted curiosity to the monumental techniques shaping electronic club music. This is RDS. RDS is part of the seminal crew De Lichting and channels a sound that intersects early IDM, ambient techno and fast-paced minimalist house. In times of advanced production techniques – modern computers with high processing power – this artist prefers to slow down instead. Synchronizing with the load times of these trusted machines, RDS takes a natural approach to productional choice, allowing himself to emphasize detail and a well-timed flow. Eager to transpose this refined craft to the wider public, he is constantly working on and evolving his liveshow. In the year of 2022 the first performance took place at Drift Festival, alongside the influential Plaid (live). Since Rein de Sauvage (real name) has been involved with music-making from early stages in his life onward, a certain musicality and knowledgeability is recurrent in his outputs. In this light, folk and jazz influence him as a producer and DJ alike due to their emotive qualities, as heard on his bimonthly Stranded FM show that graces the station’s Sunday roster. RDS has recently released his melancholic and jolting debut EP RDS Theme (De Lichting, 2022) and its successor RDS Suite (Kalahari Oyster Cult, 2022) – marking the transformation and full spectrum of his sound – and appeared with singles and collaborative works on Tiny Planet Vol. 4 (Planet Euphorique, 2022), Nowhere02 (SoHaSo, 2020), Plooi (Kalahari Oyster Cult, 2020) and Een, Twee, Drie & Drie punt één (De Lichting, 2020)
