This year, artist and light designer Luca Tornato looks back on his 5 years of Traumburg to reflect and remind us that everything in this castle is vibrant. Using mostly recycled materials, he presents a holistic light scenography for the festival curating three stages and all the spaces in between. From the agitated air inside inflated surfaces, rust forming on steel and the emergency of crystals to the butterflies in your stomach, Traumburg is never not in motion, and matter itself dreams too. Together with his team, Luca will illuminate the castle, the tower floor, the garden and basement stage in all kinds of shapes, colours and motions. “The metal lamps you will find at Traumburg are the result of a collaboration between Luca Tornato, myself and the material agents. Named after roof elements in Portuguese language (Arco, Calha, Telha and Cume), the pieces are a concatenation of our research into light design and the vibrant nature of matter. The material is in constant movement through layers of rust which come alive through light compositions.” - Ira Grünberger about the light concept for the castle grounds. “Imagine an environment in a constant state of flux, where soft inflatable shapes serve as diffusers, illuminated by lights positioned behind them. These lights adapt their character to the surrounding sound, changing in movement, direction, speed, color, and intensity. They can shift from big, bright, and fast-paced to small, dim, and slow-moving.” - Vincent Snijders about the light project “RR1200-02” for the tower stage. “The control of the lights in the basement will be partly live-coded. Fascinated by the complexity that arises from simple functions put together affecting each other, creating a sort of organism. During the festival the “genetic code” for this “organism” will be altered, new connections will form, things will be added and removed based on the music, the energy in the space and my own mental state.” - Wiggo Mott about the concept for the basement.
